About this category

PDF Tools is TheTools.World's third live category, covering the page-level and file-level PDF tasks that come up constantly with forms, reports, scanned documents, and shared files: combining several PDFs into one, pulling a few pages out of a long report, fixing a sideways scanned page, or shrinking a file that is too large to attach to an email.

Every tool below runs using pdf-lib and, for the tools that render or read page content, pdf.js — both loaded locally from this site, not a third-party CDN. Your PDF is read and processed in your browser's own memory; it is not sent to a server.

What is not here, and why

Two categories of PDF tool are intentionally not offered here. First, converting Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files to PDF is not included: faithfully reproducing an office document's exact layout, fonts, and formatting requires the same rendering engine that created it (or a very heavy alternative), and no lightweight browser-only approach can honestly promise that fidelity. Second, password protection and unlocking are not offered: the PDF library this site uses for every other PDF tool does not implement PDF encryption in either direction, and building custom encryption code for this site would be worse-tested and less trustworthy than not offering the feature at all. If either of these is what you need, look for a dedicated tool that states its layout-fidelity or encryption approach clearly, and compare the result carefully.
